A microplate consists of small wells in which separated reactions take place. A microplate reader is also known as a microplate photometer and can be used to detect biological, chemical, or physical events of samples in microtiter plates. It is a multimodal instrument that allows for a variety of experiments to be performed and measured simultaneously. Microplate readers can make absorbance, fluorescence, and luminescence measurements.
