Digital radiography (DR) is the direct conversion of transmitted X-ray photons into a digital image using an array of solid-state detectors. The DR X-ray system is the machine used to conduct digital radiography. It can also be described as an advanced form of x-ray inspection, which produces a digital radiographic image instantly on a computer. This technique uses x-ray sensitive plates to capture data during object examination, which is immediately transferred to a computer without the use of an intermediate cassette.
