The electrosurgical unit also known as a Bovie, is a surgical device used to cut through tissue or destroy tissue. It also helps to control bleeding (hemostasis) by causing the coagulation of blood. It consists of a generator and a handpiece with one or more electrodes. The device is controlled using a switch on the handpiece or a footswitch.
